Every holiday, you set out with the best intentions to make a next-level gingerbread house, but if your attempts are anything like ours, it more often than not ends up a gigantic pile of frosting, cookies, and candy that is maybe the most unappetizing sweets have ever looked. But before you give up on them for good, we’ve got a trick, and it’s going to help you make the easiest (and also the most delicious) gingerbread house ever.

Forgetting your decorating skills (or lack thereof) the most difficult part of constructing a gingerbread house is getting everything to stand up and stay in place, so instead of fighting the cookies, skip them entirely—and head straight to the candy aisle instead to stock up on Kit Kats.

The chocolate-covered wafers are perfect for cheating your way to a stellar faux-gingerbread house. Layer and stack Kit Kats, binding them together with melted chocolate.

When you get to the top, fill in the opening with giant Kit Kats, and use white chocolate Kit Kats to construct the roof. Then, decorate with candy and graham crackers as usual.

Not only is this way easier than making an actual gingerbread house, but TBH, it tastes better than rock-hard gingerbread, anyway. Yeah, gingerbread is festive and all, but you know you’d so much rather break off a piece of that Kit Kat house.
