Everyone needs a classic coffee cake recipe. Simple to make and a treat to eat, this is it! This was one of the first recipes I used when I started with baking. It is easy and great to have with coffee especially early on a Saturday or Sunday morning when things are quiet except the early morning birds.

Ingredients
  1. Cinnamon Streusel
  2. 1/3 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
  3. 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  4. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  5. 2 tablespoons firm butter or margarine
Coffee Cake
  1. 2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
  2. 2/3 cup milk or water
  3. 2 tablespoons sugar
  4. 1 egg
Instructions
  1. Heat oven to 375°F. Grease 9-inch round pan. In small bowl, stir streusel ingredients until crumbly; set aside.
  2. In medium bowl, mix coffee cake ingredients until blended. Spread in pan. Sprinkle with streusel.
  3. Bake 18 to 22 minutes or until golden brown.

  1. * Crown this classic coffee cake with fresh fruit, a small mound of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
